Rest Awhile
I have been so busy lately. I recently took on a part time job on top of my freelance life. Personal projects have been put on hold as the rest of my time is spent with my family. What was I thinking? Why make things more challenging than it already is?
Despite all the desolation that I have been going through, there seems to be a lot of consolation as well. There is joy amidst the carrying of crosses that seem to weigh a lot heavier recently. I guess this feeling sums up this sketch that I was able to create while I had some free time.
Our pilgrim is taking a break. He is sitting on a tree branch trying to soak in the beauty before his eyes. His travels have been quite challenging recently but he stops and realizes that there is peace amidst adversity. He will soon end his break and continue on his journey, but right now, he is grateful to just rest awhile.
I have had a fascination recently with Kalachuchi trees (also known as Plumeria or Frangipani). Trees that bear flowers are truly a beauty. I decided to use the Kalachuchi as reference for the tree in the sketch. It’s not that noticeable, but there are a few bunches of white flowers on it.
When I saw a reference picture of the Kalachuchi, I quickly thought that it would be nice to sit on one of the branches of the tree. That’s how this sketch sort of came about. I hope you guys enjoy it.
We all go through very busy and challenging seasons in life. Let us pray that God gives us the grace to see things through his eyes. In doing so, may we have joy amidst our suffering. We carry our crosses knowing that we do not walk alone.
